Research

Physics based analysis of the semiconductor industry, and of the problems our chips are built to solve. Every paper says what kind of evidence it rests on.

How we research

  1. /01

    Physics first

We start from the physical mechanism, not from someone else's conclusion.

  2. /02

    Stated evidence

Every paper says whether it rests on simulation, measurement, published data or reasoning.

  3. /03

    No invented numbers

If we do not have a figure, we say so. We do not estimate it and present it as fact.

  4. /04

    Reproducible

Where we can, we publish enough for someone else to check the work.

Run research with us

We welcome researchers and students in chip design, verification, physics and embedded systems.

RESEARCH VOLUNTEER PROGRAMME

Learn semiconductor research by doing it.

High school learners and university students can volunteer with Naple on real research questions: how chips work, why they are built the way they are, and how they can solve problems in South African water, sanitation and power infrastructure.

How it works

  1. /01

    Explorer

    6 WEEKS

Learn how Naple works, read the guide at your level, and complete one real research task using public sources.

  2. /02

    Contributor

    REVIEWED EVERY 3 MONTHS

A scoped assignment on a real Naple research question, under a signed agreement.

  3. /03

    Coauthor

    PER PAPER

Write a Naple research paper with us, if you meet the authorship rule.

You move up only when both sides agree, and you can stop at any time.

What you research

  • Established chips

Memory, processors, graphics chips, systems on chip and flash storage. How they work and why they are built the way they are.

  • Niche chips

Sensor chips like Raven-01, low power and mixed signal chips, and chips for infrastructure.

What you get

  • A reference letter from the CEO
  • A Certificate of Contribution for every completed stage
  • Your name on any Naple paper your work feeds into
  • Coauthorship where you earn it
  • Work you can show in bursary, scholarship and job applications

An honest note on value. A certificate from a young company carries limited weight on its own. It helps most in bursary and scholarship applications, motivation letters, interviews and science competitions, where your reference letter and the work you can show matter more than the certificate.

Time.
School comes first. During term, at most 3 to 4 hours a week. During exams, none.
Safety.
Desk work only: reading, maths, writing and computer simulation. No field sites, no mains electricity, no chemicals.
Under 18?
A parent or guardian signs a consent form before you start. They may join any check in. Meetings happen online, at school or in a public place.
Who can apply.
Grade 10 to 12 learners and university students.

How to apply

If you are 18 or older

Use the contact form and choose Research volunteer. Tell us your school or university, your year, and the chip or topic you would like to research.

If you are under 18

Ask your parent or guardian to email hello@napletech.online with you, so they are part of the conversation from the start.

For schools and universities

Teachers, lecturers and departments can work with us to bring the programme to their learners, supervise research projects with us, or suggest research questions.

Free reading

We collect only what we need to run the programme. See the privacy notice, or email privacy@napletech.online.

Have a problem a chip should solve?

Tell us what is failing and where. An engineer will reply within two working days.
